Hens often try to lay eggs in the same nest box and sometimes two or three hens will get in the same nest box and lay their eggs together, while other hens prefer more privacy and don't want anyone near the nest while they lay their egg. Broody hens will stay on the nest and make threatening sounds to anyone who approaches no matter if they are chickens, humans, or predators. In the following video, Greta the hen is trying to a lay an egg and another hen wants to get in the same nest box even though there is another nest box available. Greta gives a warning sound (in the universal chicken language that all chickens know) that lets the other hen know that this is not happening.
