This rare, beautiful and exotic, ornamental long tailed chicken makes a perfect show bird although it was first used as a fighting chicken. The males have an unusual feature of multiple spurs. Admitted to Standard in 1883.
Can be found in Standard size and Bantam size.
First imported into the United States: April 1847 by J.A.C. Butters of Roxybury, MA.
First imported to Germany: 1882.
Personality: Flighty, somewhat aggressive, and has been described as having a "pheasant-like" personality.
Color and Physical Characteristics: Black feathers, exceptionally long tail usually with a bluish or greenish black hue. The females tail is shorter and less colorful than the male. Males may have multiple spurs and small wattles.
