Looking for a new nest box but not sure which one's are the best? See my reviews on the most popular nest boxes and get great deals on nest boxes for your chickens! Now, if you are pretty handy you can build your own nest boxes like the one's pictured. The bad part about wood nest boxes is that mites can live in the wood. Mites will hide and nest in the wood, hiding during the day and then come out to chew on your chickens at night. Galvanized steel or plastic are far better options when it comes to getting a healthy nest box for your birds.

My Favorite Nest Box So Far-Roll Out Nesting Box With Curtains and Removable Nesting Pad for Chickens-My Product Review-Best Buy
This is my favorite nest box so far of the one's we have tried. It is easy to clean, easy to move if I need to, stays mite and lice free, eggs roll down into the tray so hens cannot peck them. The only problem I have had with this nest box is that the lid on the tray is very tight and takes a bit of pressure to pull it open when collecting eggs. However frustrating this is, it also has it's benefits. For example, I have a dog that likes to steal eggs but does not steal them from this roll out nest box because he cannot open the lid. It took a few days before my hens started using this box but once one hen did, more hens started using it and now they even fight over it. So far, I have been using this nest box for almost a year and I have not had a hen try to sleep in this nest box at night and if one did decide to sleep in it I can easily lift the lid of the egg box drawer to prevent entry. This nest box also includes a rubber nesting mat which makes cleaning it very easy. It can be hung on a wall or can sit on a shelf without toppling over. I have mine sitting on a counter top and they are not screwed to a wall and have never had one tip over. It took me about 7 minutes to assemble this nest box.
Miller Manufacturing 163620 Chicken Nesting Box-My Product Review-Best Buy
I purchased one Miller nesting box to test it out (I have several now). Many of my chickens like this nest box with a few exceptions. My larger hens do not use it and I think this may be because the actually sitting space is rather narrow. My smaller hens love this nest box. I use nesting mats for easy cleaning. I have tried using hay for bedding in this nest box but the hens kick it out pretty easy because the height is a bit to low on the opening. As far as the small plastic roost outside the nest box, it is too small and does not come out far enough to give the hen anything other than a slight bit of leverage when getting into the nest. I put a roost bar just below the nest box and a crate to step up to the roost so the girls could get in easier. This is a good nest box and I have bought quite a few since testing the first one. They are durable and cleaning is very easy. No assembly needed. You can buy them one at a time or get 2 pack's, 4 pack's or 6 packs to save a bit of money.
Roll out Roll away nest boxes make egg collecting easier, less mess, hens are less likely to go broody with no eggs to sit on and you never have to worry about finding a snake under your hen or reach under a bird to collect your eggs. If you do not have room on the walls of your hen house to hang your nest boxes then rollout nest boxes with legs might be a good option for you.
