When hatching chicken eggs you can expect half of the hatch to be male eggs unless you use this method of sexing the chickens while still inside the egg. You can sex chickens inside the egg by looking at your eggs. Male eggs are said to be longer, a bit larger, and pointier at the small end while female eggs are said to be rounded at the small end, though not always 100% accurate, I have found this method to be about 80% accurate. Why the commercial egg industry does not use this method rather than grinding up live baby chicks, I do not know.
