This interesting study of two different groups of hens The Wild bunch and The Darling's was conducted by Chicken Heaven On Earth owner and CHOE Staff over a period of 5 years with two separate groups of domestic chickens, (raised on separate properties) and revealed that hens which were handled and had personal contact with humans did, in fact, develop obvious friendships among themselves with other hens and they systematically hunted for insects, took dirt bath's, stayed near each other outdoors and roosted together at night in the hen house. Some even laid their eggs together in the same nest. Mother and daughter relationships were also identified among the Buff Orpington and Barred Rocks. You may view, read and print this study but do not make changes to it.
