How to Apply DE
Hold both of your birds legs. Gently lay your bird on it's side and sprinkle DE on feathers. Fluff and lift the feathers starting at the bottom vent area and working your way to the head. Make sure to treat legs, under the wings and that all areas are treated. Then turn your bird over and do the same on the other side. Be careful not to get it in or on your birds nostrils. Light dustings can be done under the wings and vent area periodically to prevent reinfestation. Be sure to put on feet and legs as well.
Remove your chickens from the hen house or coop before treating it, roosts, and nest boxes to prevent the risk of respiratory issues. When the dust settles you can allow your chickens back in their house.
After cleaning floor and nest boxes sprinkle with DE before putting fresh bedding in. Put fresh bedding over top of DE.
