What to Feed Your Baby Chicks
What to feed your baby chick, non GMO feeds, baby chick grit, electrolytes, and supplements. Everything you need to know about feeding baby chicks to make them grow strong and healthy!
Baby chicks have higher vitamin and protein needs than adult chickens because they are growing so fast. It is very important that you know what to feed them so they can get a good healthy start in life which will keep them healthier as they get older too. A good crumble starter feed is essential because it provides your chicks with the nutrients they need. They will also need starter grit to help them chew their feed because chickens do not have teeth, grit helps them break down the food in their gullet so that it is digested more easily. You also need to make sure they have fresh clean water. Vitamins and electrolytes will give your chicks an added boost to supplement their feed making them stronger and healthier. Non-GMO Chick Feed Gives Your Baby Chicks a Healthy Start in Life
In order for you baby chicks to get a really healthy start in life you want to provide them with organic, chemical and pesticide non-GMO feed, baby chick grit and plenty of fresh clean water every day. Start your chicks off right with a Non-GMO (non-genetically modified), all-natural chick feed that gives them a well balanced diet. Chick starter should be fed to chicks the first few months until they can be fed layer feed. Non GMO feed should be soy, corn and pesticide free. It is best made using organic whole grains with no fillers until chicks are 8 weeks old. Scroll down for more great tips for baby chicks.
Why baby chick grit is important
Chickens do not have teeth so it is important to provide grit with their feed because it helps them to grind and digest it easier. Chick grit is ground much finer than grit made for adult chickens which is important because baby chicks can be injured if their feed or grit is too large. Larger feed and grit can actually get stuck in their neck or craw and even tear through their tender skin which can make them sick or even kill them.
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew [their] strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint. Isa. 40:31
Why Electrolytes are important for your baby chicks development
Electrolytes and vitamin supplements added to your chicks water give your baby chicks the added boost they need for growing strong bones and bodies which will give them a head start on good health for the rest of their lives.
Why You Should Feed Baby Chicks Medicated Chick Starter
Medicated chick starter is an easy way to prevent coccidiosis, improves feed efficiency, and helps your chicks gain weight faster by supplying the higher protein, vitamin, and mineral needs for baby chicks. The average age that you should provide medicated chick starter is any time before 0 and 8 weeks of age.
