The Real Cost of Caged Hen's Eggs-The Weekly Crow
This is the real story behind commercial egg production. Battery hens abused, new updates on battery cages in 2012 offered little relief for these poor birds. Watch our featured video: An Injustice for Battery Hens.
Commercial egg production is operated in such a way that there is no compassion for the birds who are providing the eggs. Most of these types of businesses only consideration is how much profit they can make with little if any consideration for the chicken's health and welfare. They believe that by caging the birds or housing them in overcrowded buildings (supposedly free range) now that the law on battery cages changed in 2012 to allow the hens enough room to stand up and turn around in the cages or housing them in warehouse type facilities where they are overcrowded but allowed to walk around is considered "free range" is treating the birds humanely. The reality is that the conditions the bird's are living in is not humane and much more needs to be done. Many people have started raising chickens themselves, other's have rescued battery hens and helped them to overcome the tortures they have endured but the fact remains the laws need to be changed in the commercial egg and meat industry.
