How to Close The Wound After Caponizing/Neutering a Rooster
Video showing how to stitch up the wound after caponizing/neutering a chicken. NOTE: We do not caponize/neuter roosters at Chicken Heaven On Earth. If caponizition is needed due to over aggressiveness toward people or if the rooster wants to fight all the time, or over mating with hens, we take our roosters to a licensed veterinarian to perform the procedure and do not recommend that you perform this surgery yourself.

This video shows how to stitch up an incision after caponizing/neutering a rooster. First the area is cleaned with iodine. A sharp surgical needle is used with sterile dissolvable thread to stitch the top layer of skin closed. It also shows the healing of the wound on the bird a day or so later. There are two parts to the video. Part 1 shows the actual surgery and part 2 shows how to stitch the wound up.
