Chicken Heaven On Earth Joins the Fight to Legalize Backyard Chickens
Chicken Heaven On Earth in Mineral Wells, Texas Joining the Fight to Legalize backyard chickens in Mineral Wells, TX. and other cities nationwide
Most Recent Update:
May 17, 2013-Chicken Heaven On Earth Relocated outside the city limits April 2, 2013 because they did not have the funds available to fight city hall. They managed to purchase 1.88 acres of land with four trailer homes on it and made one of those trailer homes a hen house for the rescue sanctuary Chicken Heaven On Earth. Since then they have opened a new store called Chicken Heaven on Earth Poultry, Farm Supply & Country Western Store and they continue to help others in their fight to legalize chickens inside city limits.
Oct. 10, 2011-Rev.Penny (a member of the Humane Society of the United States, Peta, and several other organizations) and her husband are a disabled couple who own Love the Lord First Ministries located in Mineral Wells, Texas and Chicken Heaven on Earth is part of their ministry to rescue abandoned abused Easter Pets.Mineral Wells Animal Control arrived at CHOE which has been in operation for more than six years in Mineral Wells, Texas. It seems one neighbor complained about their chickens due to a conflict with the hubby about some eggs. Animal control officer's came to the premises but did not find any chickens except the one the owner Reverend Penny Dean Hibbitts was holding which is in perfect health.
Due to the 1 complaint animal control officer's gave Chicken Heaven On Earth (Rescue Facility owned by LTLF for abused, abandoned chickens) seven days to remove all chickens from the property or they will be accessed fines for having chickens inside city limits even though her chickens do not pose a threat to neighbors. Animal control officer told them chicken's have to be kept inside the home and cannot go outside unless they are caged because the chickens feet cannot touch the grounds. Mineral Wells city ordinances state that pot bellied pigs which can get up to 200lbs are allowed. Neighbor's close to the Hibbitts residence own livestock which are not 200 feet from other residences such as horses, a constantly braying mule, quacking ducks, goats, llamas, geese, pot bellied pigs just to name a few. The neighbor dogs run at large on a regular basis and several of the neighbors have loud parties and arguments on a regular basis. Two of her neighbors are reported to be known drug dealers whose customers have been known to rob people in the neighborhood including the Hibbitts who have never complained to the city about any of their neighbors.
According to Mineral Wells city ordinances are allowed inside city limits but they stipulate they owners have to be 200 feet from other residences which CHOE is five feet short.CHOE is operated in the owner's backyard which has an eight foot wood privacy fence which is locked at all times. The chickens are not allowed to run at large outside the fence line. However animal control told Rev. Penny they were not even allowed to touch the ground behind her fence which is completely unfair to the chickens and the city code does not say that their feet cannot touch the ground.

Rev.Penny (a member of the Humane Society of the United States and Peta) and her husband are a disabled couple who own Love the Lord First Ministries located in Mineral Wells, Texas and Chicken Heaven on Earth is part of their ministry. John Wayne Hibbitts Sr. is building a coop and pens to house the rescued birds at a friends farm outside city limits but it is a temporary situation and CHOE is in need of assistance to locate some property outside of city limits. Donations would be greatly appreciated to help purchase land and buildings for the facility outside of city limits. The Christian couple plans to fight the city ordinances and has joined the Chicken Revolution.
UPDATE Nov. 15, 2011:Choe tried to relocate the chickens two weeks ago but the new location turned out to be dangerous and abusive toward chickens and animals, the chickens were returned to Mineral Wells, TX.on Nov. 14, 2011. Arrangements have been made by owner of CHOE-Reverend Penny Hibbitts for Serenity Springs Sanctuary to take them next week with the hopes that they can return home after the fight is over.

Chicken Heaven On Earth Rescue Sanctuary Needs Your Help
We are currently in need of feed, supplies, medical care for rescued chickens, dogs, cats, and other animals at our sanctuary and an expansion so we can purchase a larger farm. Any amount would be greatly appreciated. We don't keep them in tiny cages like most traditional animal shelters do. All of the birds and animals at Chicken Heaven On Earth are free range on almost 2 acres after they are vetted (dewormed, neutered, spayed, or caponized and parasite free) in a farm environment. Payments can be made securely via Paypal.
